Fuji Electric Establishes Sales and Marketing Subsidiary in Brazil

Tokyo, December 10, 2012 - Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TSE:6504) Tokyo, December 10, 2012 - Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Fuji Electric” or “the Company”)(TSE: 6504) announced today that its consolidated subsidiary, Fuji Electric Corp. of America, has established a sales and marketing company in Brazil, Fuji Electric Brazil-Euipamentos de Energia Ltda.

1. Purpose

Fuji Electric strengthens the establishment of overseas operational foundations to expand its business globally. In the past, the Company has been selling general component products including inverters, power semiconductors and system products in Brazil and other areas in Latin America through Fuji Electric Corp. of America. The Company has also expanded its power generation business by exporting high-capacity rectification equipment (S-Former) and power generation equipment to Latin America.
Brazil is the sixth largest economy in the world*1 and plans to host the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. Therefore, rapid improvement of infrastructures and capital investments in manufacturing are expected to help drive sustainable growth in the region. By establishing this sales and marketing subsidiary, Fuji Electric intends to bolster its business activities tailored for the local market, and continue to expand its presence in Latin America.

2. Main business activities

(1)	Sales of general component products, including inverters, power semiconductors, HMI, instrumentation, electric distribution and control equipment, and photoconductors
(2)	Sales of industrial factory automation systems and other related systems
(3)	Sales support to various kinds of plant systems involved in the production of civil infrastructure, including electrical power, traffic, and waterworks
(4)	Market research activities to monitor political policy, economic trends, and market conditions in Latin America
